Publication of Arbitration Practice Note
Pursuant to s 294(4) of the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981, the Registrar of the Workers’ Compensation Arbitration Service (WCAS) has the power to issue arbitration practice notes. The purpose of issuing practice notes is part of the WCAS’s continuing efforts to improve the efficiency, consistency and functioning of the Service.
The Registrar has issued a new Practice Note today, which will take effect from Monday 14 March 2016. This Practice Note relates to how the Registrar and arbitrators will treat the interlocutory process, in particular, the requirement to consult.
Alongside this Practice Note, the WCAS has published a list of Standard Orders to assist parties with formulating consent orders in appropriate circumstances.
All Practice Notes and the Standard Orders will be found here.
