To become an Approved Audiometric Officer with WorkCover WA, you must:

Training Courses

The five-day Audiometric Officers Course has been designed for individuals interested in becoming Approved Audiometric Officers (hearing testers) with the capacity to test the hearing of workers according to the requirements of the WorkCover WA Noise Induced Hearing Loss legislation and Mine Workers' Health Surveillance assessment program.

The two-hour Approved Audiometric Officer Online Training Course provides the required skills to submit air conduction hearing test results with WorkCover WA through the Approved Audiometric Officers Online (AAO) application. The course is designed for Audiologists, Approved Audiometric Officers (hearing testers) and administration/support officers, or for those who would like a refresher in the application.

Note that these two courses are run by separate providers, and you must register and pay separately for each. For more information, including fees and available dates, see the Events Calendar.

Approval by WorkCover WA

After each Audiometric Officers course is run, the course provider will inform WorkCover WA of those that successfully completed the course. WorkCover WA will approve these Audiometric Officers and advise them of their login details to access the Approved Audiometric Online (AAO) application for the purposes of meeting their reporting requirements.
