WorkCover WA’s recent workshop on evaluating permanent psychiatric impairment provided approved medical specialists with an opportunity to refresh their knowledge of the impairment assessment processes and discuss and evaluate a range of specific case histories with peers.

The workshop was held in response to a requests for training in assessment of permanent psychiatric impairments.

The workshop provided support to approved medical specialists (AMS), with an interest in psychiatric conditions, accredited as part of the workers’ compensation scheme. Medical practitioners from a number of specialties

The workshop comprised an overview of the legislation, AMS expectations and a number of case presentations and discussions.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr Alan Home and Dr Gemma Edwards-Smith.
