The Advanced Technical Training workshop, conducted for a second time at WorkCover WA on Friday 8 June, once again attracted more than 60 delegates, the majority of whom agreed it was a valuable learning opportunity.
Organised by the Corporate Relations branch and with detailed presentations by two members of the Australian Insurance Law Association of WA (AILA), the workshop was designed to upskill attendees, all of who are involved with Workers’ Compensation legislation.
Megan Burley, Senior Project Officer said a diverse range of backgrounds and industry sectors were represented during the event, with participants working in the areas of HR, law, insurance and payroll and injury management.
“We were very pleased that the workshop, which this time explored the topic of calculating weekly payment rates, was again fully booked and that so many industry sectors and occupations were represented.
“We had a number of case managers and claims consultants from insurance companies, as well as HR specialists, workers' compensation advisors, employer representatives and workers' compensation advocates.
“The feedback we gained was overwhelmingly positive and also very constructive. We know that this is a complex topic with many grey areas but as an organisation we are committed to assisting individuals to increase their level of understanding in this area and we will be providing further learning opportunities in the future.”
WorkCover WA’s series of interactive workshops give participants the opportunity to explore the more complex applications of the Workers’ Compensationn and Injury Management legislation. They include special presentations by experts in the field, in addition to group discussions focusing on examples of complex cases.
