The next training session in the WorkCover WA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment for medical practitioners wanting to become an Approved Medical Specialist, is scheduled for Tuesday, 10 August 2010.

To be designated as an Approved Medical Specialist under section 146F(1) of the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981, a person must fulfil a number of criteria. Two of those criteria are to:

1. undertake training in the WorkCover WA Education Module, which includes training in the WorkCover Guides; and

2. undertake training in the use of the American Medical Association Guides (AMA5 Guides) to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, or have current accreditation as a "Certified Independent Medical Examiner" with the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME); or

undertake other training in impairment assessment approved by WorkCover WA.

Dr Alan Home will be conducting the WorkCover WA Education Module on Tuesday, 10 August 2010 at WorkCover WA in Shenton Park.

The WorkCover WA Education Module is aimed at medical practitioners who have completed the AMA5 Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.
