Title:
Nationally Consistent Approval Framework for Workplace Rehabilitation Providers

Content:

WorkCover WA together with signatories from other workers' compensation jurisdictions, commenced operating under the Nationally Consistent Approval Framework for Workplace Rehabilitation Providers (the Framework) from 1 July 2010.

The Framework introduces a uniform, robust approval system for Workplace Rehabilitation Providers across all workers' compensation jurisdictions, which enables the performance of providers to be objectively measured against a consistent set of minimum standards and requirements. This in turn ensures the delivery of high quality rehabilitation services to workers, employers and insurers.

Workplace Rehabilitation Providers are required to apply for approval in their home jurisdictions (determined by ABN) and once approved, other jurisdictions will recognise this status and ensure additional requirements are kept to a minimum.

To qualify as an approved Workplace Rehabilitation Provider an organisation will need to demonstrate that they conform to the Principles of Workplace Rehabilitation, the Conditions of Approval and the Code of Conduct, in accordance with the National Framework.

For more information about the Framework and the approval process refer to the Workplace Rehabilitation Providers page or contact Lyn Anderson, A/Manager Regulation on 9388 5653.

For more information on the Heads of Workers' Compensation Authorities (HWCA) and the current jurisdictions that have adopted the Framework, go to the HWCA website.

Note: For the purpose of the WorkCover WA website and publications, the term 'Workplace Rehabilitation' means 'Vocational Rehabilitation,' as stated in the Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981.
