Insurance Brokers’ Code of Practice now available

Content:

Following an extensive feedback and consultation process, the new Insurance Brokers’ Code of Practice is now available for use by the workers’ compensation industry.

The Code was developed collaboratively by WorkCover WA and the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) to provide clear guidelines for brokers operating within the workers’ compensation system – a key recommendation from the 2009 review of the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981.

WorkCover WA recognises the important role insurance brokers play in the application of the workers’ compensation and injury management scheme, and as such, the Code aims to assist brokers in meeting their professional obligations.

More broadly, the Code has been developed to enhance effective interaction between insurance brokers, employers, insurers and WorkCover WA when policies are being discussed. It can be used as a checklist for brokers, insurers and employers.

PDF copies of the Insurance Brokers’ Code of Practice are available on the WorkCover WA website.
