Information session remains a valuable opportunity for stakeholders

Content:

The May Introduction to WorkCover WA information session was attended by more than 40 people from a range of industry sectors including construction, legal and insurance.

Feedback from participants confirmed that the session was a valuable learning opportunity.

Organised as an introduction to the agency, the event overviewed the work undertaken by WorkCover WA and the functions undertaken within the divisions.

Nerilie Watson, Coordinator of Education and Information, explained that the information sessions are a response to requests from a range of stakeholders hoping to better understand of the role and function of WorkCover WA in managing the workers’ compensation scheme. They were introduced in November 2006 and are held on a quarterly basis.

“We are very pleased with how these sessions have developed and are finding that delegates are very positive about their value,” she said.

“Attendees consistently report that they now have a better understanding of the different areas within WorkCover and are more informed of the wide variety of services available.”

WorkCover WA is committed to increasing the understanding of its role in workers’ compensation and injury management.

Bookings are already being taken for the next session, scheduled for 25 August 2010. To register, call the Education and Information Branch on 9388 5602 or email educationandinformation@workcover.wa.gov.au
