Free information sessions for Kimberley employers about workers' compensation

Content:

Safety is paramount but accidents do happen and these can cost employers around $23,000 per lost time claim.

Local north-west employers can learn more about Western Australia's workers' compensation system by taking advantage of the free information seminars in the region. The seminars will complement WorkCover WA's visit to the Kimberley region next month.

WorkCover WA representatives will be visiting various towns in the Kimberley region from 7 to 18 December 2009 to assist local employers with understanding their obligations regarding workers' compensation, injury management and return to work processes.

Employers are invited to take advantage of two free worker's compensation and injury management information sessions held at:

Kununurra

Tuesday 8 December at 10.30am
All Seasons Hotel - Corner of Victoria Avenue and Messmate Way

Broome

Thursday 17 December at 10.30am
The Mangrove Resort Hotel - 27 Carnarvon Street

The sessions include a 45 minute presentation, followed by question and answer time that will assist local employers to understand their roles and responsibilities regarding workers' compensation and injury management. These include:
  • having a current workers' compensation insurance policy
  • implementing an injury management system, and
  • supporting an injured worker in their return to work.

To register for a place at one of the free information sessions, please email educationandinformation@workcover.wa.gov.au or call Ellen Thurley on 9388 5622
