Title:
Evaluation of the 2005 Workers' Compensation Reforms

Content:

WorkCover WA would like to thank respondents who gave their input into the evaluation of the 2005 workers’ compensation legislative reforms.

The Minister for Employment Protection has now approved the publication of the Report and you can click here to access it.

The 2005 reforms aimed to restore fairness, balance and certainty for the system, adequately compensate injured workers and assist them to return to work, and provide certainty and a stable premium rating system for employers.

The State Government made a commitment to evaluate the reforms after one full financial year of operation to assess whether the reforms had achieved their intent.

The outcome of the evaluation was a general consensus among stakeholders that not enough time has passed to enable a conclusive determination of whether the legislative reforms introduced in 2005 have achieved the Government’s intent. WorkCover WA will continue to monitor the performance of the workers' compensation system and provide advice to Government on the impact of the reforms.

WorkCover WA is implementing the recommendations arising from the evaluation that relate to its operations. We are committed to enhancing service delivery to our stakeholders.

WorkCover WA welcomes your feedback, and will continue to advise you about changes to the system to ensure you are fully informed. If you have any queries, please contact Nicole Bennett, Manager, Corporate Relations on 9388 5542 or via email nicole.bennett@workcover.wa.gov.au.
