The American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME) in conjunction with the American College of Disability Medicine and WorkCover WA are pleased to present American Occupational Physician Professor Mohammed Ranavaya M.D., M.S., FACPM, FAADEP, CIME.

Professor Ranavaya is the President of ABIME and an internationally recognized expert on the American Medical Association Guides for the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, fifth edition (AMA Guides). Professor Ranavaya has taught skills for performing independent medical evaluations and how to be more effective in the use of the AMA Guides to over ten thousand physicians across the globe.

Perth Workshops - 2 & 3 April 2011

Professor Ranavaya will visit Perth in April 2011 to deliver four workshops on the use of the AMA Guides. The WorkCover WA guides, which apply to all assessments of the degree of permanent impairment arising from an injury, are based on the AMA Guides with modifications to reflect Australian clinical practice.

Primarily directed at Approved Medical Specialists, the workshops may also be suitable for non-doctors such as case managers, physiotherapists, lawyers and others interested in the AMA 5 methodology.

Each of the workshops stands-alone and will be held at WorkCover WA, 2 Bedbrook Place, Shenton Park.

  • Workshop 1:
Review of AMA Guides 5th edition methodology (ie. spine and limbs)
  • Workshop 2:
Advanced case studies based on AMA 5
  • Workshop 3:
Clinical practice Guidelines for occupational injuries/Diseases
  • Workshop 4:
Chronic pain and pain management - pills, pumps and procedures - What does the science say?
