Title:
Applications to load in excess of 75% of the recommended premium rate

Content:

Approved insurers seeking to charge an employer a premium of more than 75% above the recommended premium rate are required to request and obtain permission from the WorkCover WA Authority (the Board), in accordance with section 152 of the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981.

Following consultation with approved insurers, a review was recently finalised to streamline the application process as well as improve the timeliness of consideration by WorkCover WA. A new form has also been developed to ensure applications lodged by insurers are consistent and complete.

Tim Roach, General Manager Regulatory Services, said the new process and form would have efficiency benefits for both WorkCover WA and insurers.

“We aim to process complete applications within one month of receipt” said Mr Roach.

“However, insurers will need to do their part. Inaccurate or incomplete applications will be returned for resubmission with all the required information.”

For more information, see the 75% loading applications page under the Service Providers > Insurers section of the WorkCover WA website at www.workcover.wa.gov.au. If you have any queries, please phone 9388 5555 and ask for the Standards and Monitoring Branch.
