Fundamentals of the Legislation

The Fundamentals of the Legislation (PowerPoint - 1.1MB) presentation provides you with information about how the workers’ compensation system works, the rights and responsibilities of the parties in the system and the most commonly applied provisions of the Act. The presentation is designed to be used as a self-learning tool, and includes case study exercises and answers.

ThinkSafe Small Business Assistance Program

ThinkSafe offers easily accessible advice about making your workplace safer to avoid injuries. Small businesses employing less than 20 people (full time) are able to arrange for an independent occupational safety and health consultant to visit on-site at your workplace. This is a confidential service and the consultant will not report back to WorkSafe on any aspect of your business.

WorkCover WA has been a proud supporter of this program in recent years. In three hours, both metropolitan and regional small businesses can gain practical assistance on injury prevention and injury management in a simple process with clear and immediate outcomes.

For more information, see the WorkSafe website.

Training and Information Seminars

Training is available in Western Australia from a number of providers. Select the most appropriate training based on your training needs. Examples include:

  • Insurance Companies: contact your client service manager or insurance broker for details of their training program on claims and injury management.
  • Self-Insurance Schemes: contact your client service manager for details of their training programs.
  • Employer Associations: contact your association for training in workers' compensation and claims management.
  • Health and Safety Training Organisations
  • Workplace Rehabilitation Providers: Some workplace rehabilitation providers deliver training and information seminars for employers.
