As an employer, you need to gain a good understanding of your role in the workers' compensation system. WorkCover WA has developed this information pack which contains all the information you need. The links listed below will help you understand:

Fundamentals of the Legislation The Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 Fundamentals of the Legislation is a Powerpoint presentation that you can download and use.
The presentation provides you with information about how the workers’ compensation system works, the rights and responsibilities of the parties in the system and the most commonly applied provisions of the Act. Click here to begin ThinkSafe Small Business Program  Small businesses employing less than 20 people (full time) are able to access an excellent free resource called the ThinkSafe Small Business Assistance Program.
Coordinated by the WorkSafe Division of the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection, ThinkSafe offers easy to obtain advice about making your workplace safer to avoid injuries.
WorkCover WA has been a proud supporter of this program in recent years. In three hours, both metropolitan and regional small businesses can gain practical assistance on injury prevention and injury management in a simple process with clear and immediate outcomes.

Powerpoint presentation The Information Seminar for Employers is a Powerpoint presentation that you can download and use. This seminar provides you with information about how the workers' compensation system works and your rights and responsibilities under the Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981. It covers the 2005 legislation changes, including helpful advice on how you can become compliant with the Injury Management Code of Practice.
Injury Management Coordinators Course
This three day accredited training course is specifically designed for those people who have the responsibility (either directly or indirectly) for injured workers in their organisation. It is run by IFAP, a non-government, not-for-profit, member based organisation which provides services to improve safety and health at work.
Training and Information Seminars Training is available in Western Australia from a number of providers. Select the most appropriate training based on your training needs. Examples include:
Insurance Companies: contact your client service manager or insurance broker for details of their training program on claims and injury management.
Self-Insurance Schemes: contact your client service manager for details of their training program. RiskCover WA coordinates insurance for public sector agencies and have a published training program.
Employer Associations: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) provide training in workers' compensation and claims management.
Health and Safety Training Organisations: eg IFAP, The Academy of Safety Education and Training (West Coast Tafe)
Vocational Rehabilitation Providers: Some vocational rehabilitation providers deliver training and information seminars for employers.
Injury Management Policy and Procedure Review
A review of employer-based injury management policy and procedures documentation may be conducted by an Injury Management Review Officer to provide feedback and suggestions for the implementation of such procedures within the workplace.
